Of course he would!

Everyone and their mom would want to come to New England for at least a year if it means a super bowl appearance and victory. A source close to Peterson told Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald that AP stated “he would certainly consider taking a team-friendly deal to sign with the New England Patriots and try to win a Super Bowl.”

No No No No!!!

Listen AP was once a great running back circa 2007-2012. He was an absolute beast leaving the Oklahoma Sooners and entering the NFL, it really is a shame a guy like that never won a Super Bowl ring. But I do not want this guy coming along for the Duck Boats ride. The Patriots have tried getting these flashy NFL legends and it could possibly pay out but they are not the gritty finishers that get dropped in training camps, those are the guys the Patriots like and don’t have to empty pockets for.

AP is 31 years old and has been fighting injuries the last few years.

Yes, in 2015 he had a great year between injuries posting 1,485 total yards and 11 TD’s but that team also didn’t have full faith in Teddy Bridgewater and ran the ball a….lot. AP carried the ball 327 times, third most in his career.  That workload took an obvious toll on his body as he was injured early Fall of this past season.

In comparison to our best back last year — nearly 30 less carries and 7 more TD’s. Lagarette Blount is also one year younger than AP and has better numbers. The Patriots also have the yard by yard mentality offense , running the heavy back mainly in the redzone and throwing to receiving backs when their backs are against the wall on 3rd and long.

If Blount wants to stay and works well with this style offense let him stay. Treat the man and pay the man what he deserves for a least 2 more years.  He said this on NFL Total access on February 21: “I just want to make sure that I go to this free agency with an open mind knowing that I definitely want to go back to New England,”

“I love it there. I love the culture. I love the players. I’ve become close with a lot of the guys. Obviously you know how my running back group is. We’ll cross that bridge whenever we cross it. On that point, I feel great. I’m in amazing shape. I feel like I could play 100 more years if I have to.”

Besides I’d rather have a guy who likes the reefer than the guy who beats kids with tree branches.
